On arrival in Dauphin Friday night, my friends, Squeaky, Fanny & Louie, met at Smitty's to catch up on things. We were joined by many others who had also arrived. We had a lot of laughs till Smitty's closed.
The gathering was at Dauphin Friendship Centre Sat & Sun.
I really enjoyed the gathering to meet folks who were there for the first time. I met my friend Nancy Moore who I haven't seen since I was 17, that was a real nice surprise.
To me it was a family gathering because they were who we grew up with during our years away from home. To share our stories and how far we have come. We are still here. We survived the living through abuse, alcoholism and abandonment.
Many survivors are still working today and we are now late 60's, 70's & 80's. Totally amazing people, and strong. I am grateful for their strength, courage and hope.
